Early 20th-Century Glazed Earthenware Bowl
A strikingly honest example of early utilitarian pottery, this large earthenware bowl dates to the early 20th century and has been glazed in a rich terracotta tone (not so vivid orange in person) on the interior. Originally used for food preparation or dairy work, it now offers sculptural presence and rustic charm.
The exterior retains a raw, timeworn surface, while the interior’s glaze adds warmth and sheen. Most notably, the bowl features rare and genuine antique staple repairs – an old method of mending ceramics using hand-forged metal staples – now celebrated as a testament to the object’s age and continued use.
